Please carefully note the start time for this Event which is different to normal. DOORS OPEN from 1.30pm. Event starts 2.00pm.

Here's how Jenny describes her talk planned for today:

The English Civil War Society has been “bringing history alive” by presenting re-enactments since the 1970s.

This talk is an invitation to look behind the scenes. It’s about what the society does and who the re-enactors are.

There will be “props” on display for you to look at, as you come in and as you sip your mulled wine, and, yes, re-enactors in period dress.

(There will be no live firing of cannons or guns during this event!)

Order of play:

  • Doors open 1.30pm, opportunity to view reenactment exhibits before taking your seats for.....
  • AGM 2026 will commence at 2.00pm
  • Refreshment break - Mulled wine etc. and a further opportunity to mingle and view the reenactment exhibits
  • Talk by Jenny Dunford on the subject of "Bringing History Alive through Reenactment". End between 4.00 and 4.30pm
