Creative writing

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: on Tuesday mornings
(4 groups)

All meetings are held on Tuesday mornings, 10 am to midday. We have FOUR linked creative writing groups.

Group 1 meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at Paganhill. The Coordinator is Clive Blackmore.

Group 2 meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Woodchester Valley Village. The Coordinators are Paul and Betty Young.

Group 3 meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and rotates around members’ homes, which makes for variety, but you will need transport. The Coordinator is Pam Davies.

Group 4 meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Cotswold Bowls Club at Dudbridge. Members share the cost of the room. The Coordinator is Sally Bull.

We aim for an attendance of 8 in each group, where we take turns to read contributions on a previously set topic – although you can write what you please. Poetry or prose are equally welcome. There is no teacher; we enjoy hearing how others have approached a subject in different ways. Stories should be 500 - 1,500 words in length. (Longer pieces limit time for discussion). Please don’t use a lap-top at meetings, bring your work printed or in long-hand. There is usually a break for coffee, conversation and a short, light-hearted writing exercise.

We always welcome new members but you will have to join or already be a member of Stroud u3a. In the first instance, please contact Robert Smith using the email link above as groups are balanced for size and we must also consider car parking requirements. If there are spaces, members can move to another group or attend more than one session.

You do not have to own a computer or use email to belong to any Creative Writing Group. Items can be posted into the group (address provided to members only). Members retain full copyright all times. We only share contributions by permission.
