This is a new Stroud u3a Group called “Wisdom Traditions”. The idea will be to study different topics through the lenses of different traditions. So, for example, we could consider “Good and Evil" from a series of different perspectives. We would explore these through, for example, the lenses of ancient and modern mythologies, faiths and science.

We would NOT be seeking to judge one or more perspective as being “better”, “right” or “best” but more simply try to learn, enjoy and “bask” somehow together in the diversity that many perspectives, old and new, inform the way we as human beings see the world.

I have no idea where this might meander, and I have no formal expertise but see this as simply stepping out on a very worthwhile journey with other inquisitive folk.

Do let me know through the link above if you are interested in joining in this journey.

Update: Over the next several sessions, we will continue exploring some of the many Creation and Origin narratives, the relationships between myth, theory, mystery and the "illusion" of fact.

Our group is proving popular and regretfully I am having to pause taking on anyone new to the group but please still contact me and I can add you to a waiting list. At this early stage we may well have people deciding it is not quite for them and so have spaces created.
