Groups

At present we have about 50 groups running. If the group or activity you would like to join is full or not on our list, or if you have difficulty contacting the Group Coordinator, please contact our Groups Secretary Jane Harvey. Jane can facilitate starting new groups or offer alternate methods for contacting existing ones. We are currently developing some guidance for starting up a new group.

You can attend up to two Group or Monthly Meetings as a guest and free of charge to see if it's what you want, before you need to join. Members of other u3as are always welcome to join in our activities but must be an Associate member of Stroud u3a to do so. Access to our monthly meetings or to one group is free of charge for Associate members. See our Join Us page for more information.

All of our groups are "for our members by our members" and we therefore hope that members will share the workload of co-ordinating their Group activities. All Groups have one or more Coordinators and need at least one contact person to talk to potential new members.

Groups decide for themselves how frequently and where they will meet and also what their size should be. Often group size is limited by venue and sometimes if there is enough interest we can help to start new groups or find more suitable venues. We encourage our group Coordinators to operate waiting lists as this gives us a better idea about when it might be worth facilitating a new group or venue. If you have an interest which you would like to develop with others either as a group member or as a Coordinator, or would just like to meet people with similar interests, why not Join Us?

Group Coordinators: if you’d like to post notices of events or add notes/photographs to your group page, please contact Richard Bedford.
